What is Order fulfilment?

Order fulfilment is the process of receiving and storing inventory to be sold online to consumers or B2B customers, after which orders are processed and delivered to each customer.

The process starts when a customer places an order and concludes once they receive their delivery by post or courier.

Autofulfil provides third-party logistics (3PL) order fulfilment services for eCommerce retailers and B2B sellers who wish to outsource their fulfilment to industry experts.

What is the Order fulfilment process?

The process starts when a customer places an order and concludes once they receive it by post or courier.

Here’s an overview of the five steps involved in order fulfilment:

  1. Receiving inbound inventory – You send your stock to our fulfilment warehouse
  2. Storage of inventory – Your stock is stored awaiting online orders
  3. Order processing – this includes:
    1. Pick and pack
    2. Kitting and/or light assembly of hampers or gift sets
    3. Validation to check order accuracy
  4. Shipping – At the carrier station the order is packed and despatched to your customer via one of our courier partners
  5. Returns management – Orders are returned to our fulfilment centre. So if the buyer wants to return a product, Autofulfil order fulfilment manages the return transaction including quality check and stock update

Can Autofulfil integrate with my website?

Yes. Our warehouse management system (WMS) order fulfilment software is the bridge between your eCommerce platform and our fulfilment warehouse. Features include:

How does the Order fulfilment Goods-in process work?

For every new online retailer we create a new account in our order fulfilment software. In doing so, we can integrate and check-in your barcoded products more efficiently.

Once we receive your stock we scan each barcode to identify the correct product and storage location. This process ensures a fast, accurate and efficient order fulfilment process going forward.

How does the Order fulfilment storage process work?

Each product is allocated a unique location in our 3PL warehouses. We locate fast moving products in easy to access bays and slower moving goods on pallets.

The data collected during the goods-in process means that we can automate and optimise space utilization in addition to batch tracing.

Also, the customer portal in our warehouse management software (WMS) empowers our clients to view stock, order status and tracking in real time.

Furthermore, our WMS pushes all data upto your eCommerce platform, like Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Magento and many others.

How does the light assembly / kitting process work?

Many of our clients sell hampers, subscription boxes and gift sets online. As such we pre-assemble a selection of simple SKUs, creating a new complex SKU, on a regular basis.

Our scheduled assembly process is planned with our clients to meet seasonal demand, ranging from 200 to 10,000-plus kits. This function enhances your value proposition to sell product-bundles, in a more cost-effective fashion, due to high-volume order fulfilment efficiencies.
