Introduction
If you run an eCommerce brand in Ireland, you’ve probably been hearing more and more about TikTok Shop over the past year. Maybe you’ve watched a competitor go viral. Maybe one of your customers told you they found you “on TikTok.” You’ve probably been wondering whether it’s actually worth the time, the effort, and the headaches.
This guide is here to help you figure that out – and if the answer is yes, to walk you through exactly how to set up TikTok Shop in Ireland from start to finish.
We’ve broken it into three parts:
- A quick overview of TikTok Shop in Ireland and what’s happening here.
- A framework to help you decide if it’s right for your brand
- The full step-by-step setup process
Grab a coffee or a cup of tea and let’s get into it.
Part 1 – TikTok Shop in Ireland: What It Is and Why It Matters
TikTok Shop is the eCommerce arm of TikTok – a way for brands to sell products directly through the app via shoppable videos, LIVE shopping sessions, creator partnerships, and product showcases. Instead of sending people off platform to your website or another eCommerce platform, the entire purchase happens inside TikTok itself.
It launched in Ireland in December 2024, in partnership with Guaranteed Irish, and is currently available exclusively to Irish-based sellers and shoppers.
How It’s Doing in Ireland
It’s been a strong first year. TikTok Shop marked its one-year anniversary in Ireland in December 2025, with Irish sellers on the platform growing by triple digits since launch.
A few numbers worth knowing:
- 2.4 million people in Ireland use TikTok every month. That’s nearly half the country.
- Black Friday 2025 saw 190% sales growth on TikTok Shop Ireland compared to the previous period, with #ShopIrish content doubling year-on-year.
- The platform is expanding into fashion, home, and living categories in 2026, and has ended the invite only model to fully open access, broadening the opportunity beyond the beauty and lifestyle brands that led the way in year one.
Irish brands already making it work include Made by Mitchell, Cocoa Brown, SOSU Cosmetics, Chapters Bookstore, and a growing number of Guaranteed Irish members across multiple categories.
What’s Different About TikTok Shop in Ireland
This is the bit that catches a lot of new sellers off guard. TikTok Shop in Ireland operates differently to the US, UK, or other EU markets in two important ways:
- Local sellers only. Only Irish-based businesses can sell on TikTok Shop Ireland. An Irish entity is required for operation in TikTok Shop Ireland. If you’re a UK or EU brand wanting access, you’d need to either register an Irish entity or use a Merchant of Record service.
- No Fulfilled by TikTok (FBT). This is the big one. In other markets, TikTok offers an FBT service that handles warehousing and shipping. In Ireland, that doesn’t exist. Sellers must use a third-party logistics partner (3PL) or fulfil orders themselves. Returns are handled by the sellers as well.
That last point matters more than people realise, and we’ll come back to it.
Part 2 – Is TikTok Shop Right for Your Irish Brand?
TikTok Shop isn’t right for every brand, before you jump into setup, take a minute to and evaluate the pros, cons, requirements of the platform and important factors such as Content & Affiliate Dependency, Logistics & Operational Strain, Profit Margins & Branding Control.
Here are five questions worth asking.
1 – Is your product visually demonstrable?
TikTok Shop works because content sells the product. Skincare with a clear before-and-after. Makeup with a vibrant swatch. Supplements with a clean morning routine. Fashion that moves and drapes well on camera.
If your product is hard to demonstrate visually in 30 seconds – or worse, requires lengthy explanation – TikTok Shop will be a much steeper hill to climb.
2 – Is your audience actually on TikTok?
TikTok leans towards a younger audience than most platforms, though that’s been shifting. The biggest spending audiences on TikTok Shop tend to be 18–34, with a strong female demographic for beauty and lifestyle categories.
If your customer is a 60-year-old buying garden tools, TikTok Shop probably isn’t the channel you should be obsessing over.
3 – Can you produce regular content (or work with people who can)?
This is the one most brands underestimate. TikTok Shop isn’t a “list and forget” platform like Amazon. It’s a content engine. TikTok recommends posting at least 2 videos per product and posting at least once every two days for best results.
If you don’t have the time, the team, or the budget to consistently produce video content (or partner with creators who can), you’ll struggle to see traction – no matter how good your product is.
4 – Are your margins strong enough to absorb the costs?
TikTok Shop charges a commission of roughly 5-9% on each sale, depending on the category. On top of that, you might pay 5–20% to creators through the Affiliate Programme, plus fulfilment costs, returns handling, and any paid advertising you choose to run.
If your product has a 15% gross margin, the math gets tight fast. If you’re closer to 60-70% margin, you’ve got a lot more room to play with.
5 – Can you fulfil orders reliably and quickly?
TikTok Shop rewards fast, accurate fulfilment. Late shipments hurt your account health. Poor reviews tank your visibility. And because there’s no FBT in Ireland, every part of the fulfilment experience falls on you.
If you don’t have a reliable fulfilment setup – whether in-house or through a 3PL partner – TikTok Shop will expose that gap fast.
If you’ve got mostly green flags, keep reading. If most are red, TikTok Shop probably isn’t your best next move – and that’s okay.
Part 3 – How to Set Up TikTok Shop in Ireland: Step-by-Step
Right, now that you’ve decided TikTok Shop Ireland is worth it. Here’s exactly how to set it up.
The full process typically takes 1 to 3 business days for approval once you submit your application – though you should plan a couple of weeks of prep before that to get your documents and structure in order.
Before You Start: Pre-Setup Checklist
Make sure you have all of these ready before you begin:
- A registered Irish business entity (limited company or sole trader)
- A valid Irish tax identification number, and VAT number if applicable
- An Irish bank account in your business name
- A valid Irish address for your business and warehouse
- Your business registration documents (in colour, JPG or PNG)
- A government-issued ID for the business representative
- Proof of residential address (utility bill or bank statement from the past 3 months)
- A reliable fulfilment plan in place – 3PL partner or in-house setup
- Manufacturer and Responsible Person details for GPSR compliance
- A clear product catalogue with descriptions, images, and pricing
All documents must be government-issued, in colour, clear, unedited, and submitted in JPG or PNG format. Most application rejections come down to document quality, not eligibility.
Step 1 – Sign Up at the TikTok Shop Seller Centre
Head over to the Ireland TikTok Shop Seller Centre at seller-ie-accounts.tiktok.com and start your application.
You’ll need to register with an email address and phone number. One important note: don’t use a TikTok Organisation Account to sign up. You’ll need a regular personal account, business email, or phone number for the registration.
Step 2 – Choose Your Seller Type
You’ll be asked whether you’re registering as a Sole Trader or a Legal Entity (limited company). The documents you’ll need are based on which you select, so choose carefully – this should match how you’ve registered the business in Ireland.
If you’re a sole trader, you’ll need:
- A valid EU-issued ID or passport
- Proof of residential address (issued within the last 3 months)
- A selfie video holding your ID (may be requested)
- Your business name and registration number
- A local Irish warehouse address
- Customer contact details
If you’re a registered company, you’ll need:
- Business representative’s valid ID or passport
- Proof of residential address for the representative
- Company registration number and VAT number
- Registered business and warehouse address (must be in Ireland)
- Ultimate Beneficial Owner (UBO) details if applicable
- An authorisation letter if someone else is handling registration on your behalf
Step 3 – Upload Your Documents
This is where most applications get held up. Upload your documents one by one, making sure each one meets the quality standards:
- Full colour, not black and white
- Clear and readable – no blur, no glare, no cropping.
- Saved as JPG or PNG (not PDF)
- The name on the document must match the applicant or business
- Bank statements should include the unredacted first page and be no older than 3 months
Take your time here. A clear, properly formatted document gets approved fast. A rushed application results in an immediate, automatic rejection.
Step 4 – Set Up Your Shop Details
Once your documents are uploaded, you’ll be prompted to add:
- Your tax identification number and VAT number if applicable
- Your shop name – if you haven’t done this, pick something that reflects your brand, but avoid using “TikTok” or anyone else’s trademarked names. TikTok will reject these
- Customer contact details including email, phone, and return address
This is the version of your business that customers will see, so put real thought into how you present it.
Step 5 – Submit for Review
Once everything is in, hit submit. TikTok will review your application – typically within 1 to 3 business days, though it can occasionally take longer. You’ll get an email when a decision is made.
If you’re approved, brilliant – move on to Step 6.
If you’re rejected, don’t panic. You can raise a ticket on the Help Centre for support, and the onboarding team will be in touch via email. Most rejections are about a single document issue, not a fundamental eligibility problem. Fix the flagged issue and resubmit.
Step 6 – Link Your Bank Account for Payouts
Once approved, the first thing to do is link your Irish bank account. This is how TikTok will pay you for your sales.
A few things to know:
- The bank account name must match your registered business or sole trader name
- New sellers typically face a 7–14 day holding period for initial orders
- Once your account has built some trading history, payouts speed up
Step 7 – Set Up Shipping and Returns
Because Ireland doesn’t have Fulfilled by TikTok, you’ll need to configure your shipping options yourself. This is one of the most important steps – and one of the easiest to get wrong.
You’ll need to:
- Set up the shipping options you’ll offer (standard, next day, etc.)
- Connect your fulfilment setup, whether that’s in-house, a 3PL partner, or a hybrid
- Configure return handling.
- Set your dispatch time commitments (TikTok generally expects 24–48-hour processing)
This is where having a reliable fulfilment partner becomes essential. TikTok Shop rewards fast, accurate fulfilment in your account health metrics – and punishes slow or inconsistent performance with reduced visibility.

Step 8 – Set Up GPSR Compliance
If you’re selling non-food consumer products, you need to comply with the EU’s General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR), which came into force in December 2024.
In your Seller Center:
- Go to Qualification Center
- Add your Manufacturer – name, address, contact details
- For any manufacturer based outside the EU, designate at least one Responsible Person (RP) based in the EU
- Repeat for every brand and supplier you carry
The Responsible Person is the legally designated contact for regulatory authorities. If your manufacturer is based in Ireland or the EU, that’s typically straightforward. If you’re sourcing from outside the EU, you’ll need to designate someone – there are third-party services that handle this.
Don’t skip this. If GPSR compliance details are missing, TikTok Shop may apply penalties or remove your products.
Step 9 – Add Your First Products
New sellers are subject to a probation period, during which you’re capped at 100 product listings per day. For most Irish brands, that’s more than enough.
When adding products:
- Use high-quality images on clean backgrounds
- Write clear, honest descriptions that match the product exactly
- Set the correct category (this affects your commission rate)
- Include accurate dimensions, weights, and shipping info
- Add the right GPSR manufacturer and Responsible Person data per product
A few categories require additional documentation before products can go live; cosmetics, supplements, electronics, baby products, and food among them. Check each product’s category requirements as you list.
Step 10 – Connect Your TikTok Creator Account
This is the part that makes the whole thing actually work. Connect your TikTok Shop to your TikTok business or creator account so products can appear in:
- Shoppable videos – products tagged in your regular content
- LIVE shopping – real-time selling during live streams
- Product showcase – a curated collection on your profile
- Affiliate Programme – letting creators promote your products for commission
Without this connection, your shop exists, but no one can find it.
What Happens After Approval
Getting approved is the start, not the finish. The first 30 days are crucial.
Things to do in your first month:
- Post your first shoppable video within 48 hours of approval
- Plan at least 8–10 pieces of organic TikTok Shop content for the first 30 days
- Run a soft launch LIVE shopping session to learn the format
- Reach out to 5–10 creators in your niche to gauge interest in affiliate partnerships
- Monitor your account health daily – late dispatch rate, cancellation rate, customer satisfaction
- Track which content formats are driving views and conversions
Things to avoid:
- Listing prohibited products (a quick way to get suspended)
- Late shipments (the fastest way to damage account health rating)
- Misleading product descriptions (returns and refunds will follow)
- Ignoring customer messages (TikTok tracks response times)
Common Rejection Reasons (and How to Avoid Them)
Most TikTok Shop Ireland applications that get rejected fall into one of these categories:
If you’re rejected, you can resubmit. The onboarding team is reachable via service-eu@tiktok.com, though you’ll need to raise a ticket inside Seller Center to start a conversation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I sell on TikTok Shop Ireland if I’m not Irish-based?
Not directly. TikTok Shop Ireland is restricted to Irish-registered businesses. If you’re a UK or EU brand, your options are to register an Irish entity, or work with a Merchant of Record service that can act as your local representative.
Do I need to be VAT registered to sell on TikTok Shop?
It depends on your turnover. If you exceed the Irish VAT threshold of €75,000 for goods, you’ll need to register. Even below that threshold, having a VAT number can help you claim back input VAT on business expenses – and TikTok will collect VAT on relevant transactions on your behalf.
How long does approval take?
Typically 1-3 business days, though it can take longer if your documents need to be reviewed manually or if there are issues with your application.
Can I sell my own digital products on TikTok Shop?
No. TikTok Shop is for physical products only. Digital goods, software, downloadable files, and standalone services are not permitted.
How much does it cost to set up TikTok Shop in Ireland?
There’s no setup fee, no monthly subscription, and no charge to list products. TikTok takes a commission of roughly 5-9% per sale depending on category, and you’ll have other costs like creator commissions, fulfilment, and any advertising you choose to run.
Do I need a fulfilment partner from day one?
Strongly recommended. Without Fulfilled by TikTok in Ireland, every seller is responsible for their own warehousing, picking, packing, and shipping. If your volumes are small to start, in-house may work – but as soon as you start scaling, a 3PL partner becomes critical to maintaining the speed and accuracy TikTok rewards.
A Final Word on Fulfilment.
We’d be lying if we pretended this part wasn’t close to our hearts.
The single most underestimated factor in TikTok Shop success in Ireland is fulfilment. Every other market has FBT to fall back on. Irish sellers don’t. And because TikTok Shop’s algorithm rewards fast dispatch, accurate fulfilment, and low return rates, the brands that nail this part have a structural advantage over the ones that don’t.
If you’re going into TikTok Shop Ireland and you don’t yet have a fulfilment plan that can scale with you, we’d love to chat. At Autofulfil, we work with Irish DTC brands to take fulfilment completely off their plate – so you can focus on the content, the customers, and the actual growth of your brand.
